Incinerate Insecurity

DAY 1 OF 6

### Who Am I? Sometimes we compensate for our insecurity with pride. Instead of reflecting on who we are—considering both our strengths and our weaknesses—we ignore our faults. In essence, pride becomes a defense mechanism because we are afraid to confront the reality of who we are. However, in Christ we have the freedom to “think soberly” about our lives. Because Jesus defeated sin and His Spirit gave us the power to overcome, we do not have to make excuses for our shortcomings or pretend they do not exist. Instead, through the faith He gives, we can appreciate our talents, acknowledge our weaknesses, and think of ourselves in a balanced way that honors God and builds up His Church. Romans 6:5-6 says this: > For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. In making the decision to follow Jesus, our old self has died, and we are no longer slaves to it. We rejoice in the new self God created in us and find our security there! As you engage with God’s Word: ● What is God saying to you? ● What does it mean to you? ● What action step do you need to take? After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
