On the Flip Sideনমুনা

Peer pressure is real — and it starts as early as Pre-K! Everyone's into this show, or wearing these shoes . . . the list goes on! That's why it's so important to know your values because it's so easy to be persuaded by others.
Today's passage happens at a time when Jesus was pretty much trending! People were interested in what he had to say until his messages got a little too real. At a certain point in his ministry, the crowds left him, and his disciples were the only ones who stuck around. Jesus turns to them and asks if they're going to go, too. But they knew all Jesus could offer. You see, when you know Jesus — and you know that he has the words of life — you're able to stick around even when he's not trending.
Think about the particular ways you've been tempted to walk with the crowd rather than with Jesus. Is there someone you can talk with about this today?

About this Plan

Jesus wasn’t exactly known for telling people what they wanted to hear. Jesus didn’t give feel-good sermons. He flipped people’s ideas about God, the world, and themselves upside down — usually in uncomfortable ways. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll compare how Jesus challenged the religious leaders and what God says in the Old Testament on what’s wrong or right, good or bad, and just or unjust.
