The Church has Left the Building

DAY 5 OF 7

It is so easy to just worry about yourself, your family, your house, and your bank account. We are in a time where people are buying all the toilet paper, Lysol wipes, and hand sanitizer. We have to protect us first, don’t we? In this season, have you reached out to anyone around you that isn’t your family or close friend and asked the simple questions, “How are you doing? Do you need anything? Is there anything I can do to help you?” I know we don’t neglect people around us on purpose, it just kind of happens. Paul warns us of this behavior. He said there will be terrible times in the last days, and people will become lovers of themselves. Are you there already? We are all marked by our behavior. Actions speak louder than words. We all can say we care, but it is hard to believe unless action follows. Paul lists different types of behaviors in chapter 3, and I want you to ask yourself the hard question, “Do I represent some of these qualities?” Lover of money. Boastful. Proud. Abusive. Disobedient to your parents. Ungrateful. Unholy. Without love. Unforgiving. Slanderous. Without self-control. Brutal. Rash. Conceited. Lovers of pleasure. Yikes. Paul says that we should have nothing to do with these types of people. I mean, why would you want to hang out with these types of people? People aren’t drawn to that type of behavior. They are drawn to joyful, loving, selfless, uplifting, encouraging people. Christians have left the building . But we are still urged to be the love of Jesus to those around us. Let’s get out of our comfort zone, think beyond ourselves, our family and friends, and consider those around us that may not have the relationship with Jesus like we have.
