DAY 7 OF 17

FAITH (Forsaking All, I Take Him) Hebrew 11:1b Faith means knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. Imagine you were eating your favorite gummy bears and only one was left. Your best friend came and asked if you would share it? Will you give it to him, or will you eat it all by yourself? I want to tell you a little story. As we learned before, Abraham and Sarah finally had a son and they named him Isaac. During the time of Abraham, people showed their devotion to God by placing an animal they had killed on an altar and burning it up. This was called a “sacrifice” . One day, God asked Abraham to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice. Did Abraham get angry at God and say “ NO WAY, GOD! ”? Or, did he run away with Isaac to hide from God? No, he did neither. Abraham knew that God would always do the right thing. If he obeyed God, even in this very hard thing, God would make it right in the end. He may have thought that God would let Isaac die, but then bring him back to life. Abraham didn't understand exactly what would happen, but he had faith in God. Faith means trusting in someone or something that you cannot yet see. Abraham had faith in God and this pleased Him. God then provided a ram to sacrifice instead of Isaac. Today, let us have faith in God for things that we hope for. God has already seen it before you! Prayer Dear God, teach me to trust in Your plan and direction. Amen.
