Day 13: The ultimate BBQ Think About: How cool is this story? God gave Elijah an amazing victory in the face of a pretty crazy situation didn’t he? God’s prophet Elijah knew that our God was and is the one-true God and challenged King Ahab and the prophets of their made-up god called Baal to a “GOD-OFF!” The prophets of Baal gave their best efforts to get their god to bring rain to Israel. They sang and they danced around the altar and they offered sacrifices, but nothing happened… When Elijah stepped up to have his turn to call on the one true God, he even made it even harder! Water all over the altar so that the sacrifice was soaking wet! He knew that his God, the real God had the victory! Elijah prayed and BOOOM! Fire came from heaven! And consumed the whole altar! King Ahab and his prophets then knew that Elijah’s God was the true God! How amazing is that? Elijah trusted that God could bring him a great victory! Can you think of any times in your life that God has come and shown you a great victory? What now? How can you be like Elijah? You can stand up for God. When others around you don’t believe, you still can. Take a minute now to thank God that He brings great victories. Even when there are troubles and scary things, He is still in control and when we can rely on Him to bring us an amazing victory.
