The Church

DAY 3 OF 10

How should we live together as the Church? Question: How should we live together as the Church? Answer: Christ commands us to love one another through meeting together regularly, serving each other’s needs, and strengthening each other’s faith in Christ by exercising the gifts of the Spirit. Why is it important to go to church? After all, we’re all really busy. We’ve got family, school, homework, and extracurricular commitments. And, of course, we’d like to spend some down time with friends. The Christian faith is a personal faith that’s all about your personal relationship with Jesus. Have you ever wondered why you can’t just spend time with Jesus by yourself , in prayer and in reading the Bible instead? Can’t I worship God in nature? In a world of online church campuses and podcasts, why do I need the Church? We need the Church because our faith is individual and corporate. We were made for each other. As human beings, we were designed for relationships, we were designed to live out our lives in community. We live best when we surround ourselves with others. And that’s why God gave us the Church, and that’s why we need to be committed to it. And it’s not only that we live best in community, but the Church is also on a mission. And we’re supposed to be a part of that mission to display his love, character, and nature to the world and to invite people to follow Jesus. God has given us gifts by his Holy Spirit so that we can strengthen the Church for its mission in the world. Each of us form a unique part of God’s purpose and plan. Spend some time today reflecting and asking yourself these questions: 1. Am I committed to a local church? If not, what are some steps I can take in that direction? 2. How have I seen my life positively impacted by living in community? 3. How am I strengthening the Church with my spiritual gifts?
