There are many possible responses to circumstances of desperate need and great fear. However, the only response that matters is crying out to the God of the universe for His comfort, His peace, and His help. When we can’t sleep, we can pray. When we feel like we can’t pray, we can read and meditate on passages in the Bible. We gain hope when we reflect on God’s promises to us and reflect on the ways that He has saved us in the past. What has been your pattern when faced with desperate circumstances? How has focusing on the Lord helped during those times? Father God, I thank You that when You are for me, no one can stand against me. Help me to wait patiently and confidently for Your answer when I am in desperate need. Make my first response be one of total surrender and trust in You. Strengthen my resolve so that I remain confident that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. Remind me that You are always faithful, always trustworthy, and always active in my life, even when I may not see it or appreciate it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
