Weary of the state of this world? I get it – it’s hard to watch the news day after day and not lose hope in humanity all-together. In fact, many people today have adopted a fend-for-yourself kind of attitude because they’re tired of making an effort to be a light in such a dark place. But as followers of Christ, we must pray to see the world as God sees it: with love and compassion for the broken, lost and in need of a Savior. Maybe you’re reading these verses for the first time, or maybe you’ve read them hundreds of times before. Either way, would you stop right now and pray for God to give you a fresh perspective of how he loves the world? Humanity will fail us, but the Hope of the world – Jesus – has come! God loved the world SO MUCH that he sent his Son to rescue us. God didn’t give up on this world; he didn’t turn away and ignore our great need. If we truly know Jesus, then we must not give up on the world either! This week, let’s pray that God will ignite our hearts to passionately reach out to a dying world, showing those around us the love and compassion of Christ.
