### Trumpet No. 5 Thoughts on the Passage The last three trumpets are identified as three woes. This means that these three trumpets are going to cause some serious catastrophes to people who reject God’s kingdom transfer. The fifth trumpet lets us know the first of the three challenges – facing unprecedented demonic attack. Sometimes, we think that the demonic influence in this world is very strong right now – well it will rise to a much greater level of spiritual attack. The king over these demonic tormenters – Apollyon – will come and cause so much pain and torment that people will wish that they had died. I remember some of the comments coming out of Syria and the war that they are enduring: “I want to die, because there is food in heaven”; “I would rather die, hell cannot be any worse than this.” These are the words that people will say when they face people driven by these demonic forces. There are two other things about this trumpet and the woe it brings. First, it is only for a short time. God is just giving people a taste of hell – and mankind will hate it. This is a measure of God’s mercy to a world that is rejecting His kingdom. He will show them a brief taste of what the other kingdom is truly like. Second, the demonic forces will be limited to people who reject God’s kingdom. His people will not face these demonic forces. The demonic will not be allowed to destroy the earth. Again, this is to focus the trial to those who need to repent – and seek the kingdom of God. Prayer Father, the evil released by the demonic world is terrible – it destroys so much, it steals so much, it kills so ruthlessly. It is going to get much worse. That is hard to imagine at times. When we see the brutality of war, the scourge of famine caused by war, the raping and destruction of so much beauty and life – it just is hard to imagine it being much worse. Still, we see it in the wars that are going on. Father, Your purpose is not to destroy. Your purpose is to show this world what life is like when You remove Your restraining hand, when You allow evil a free rein and when nothing is hindering the demonic forces. It is a taste of hell – and it is terrible. You do this for just a short period of time so that people turn to You and seek forgiveness. So that is my prayer today. My kingdom transfer prayer is that You show people the horrors of hell – and open their hearts to understand the beauty of Your forgiveness. In Jesus Name. Amen.
