The Lord’s Prayer- Jesus’ Example for Us

Jesus taught about money and why it matters so much to our walk with him. Money is not just a resource; it reveals what we trust, who we serve, and how we live. When anxiety attacks, what should be our response? As we continue our trek through the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives us the answer in the conclusion of chapter 6: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 ESV). In “Seek First”, we’re going to walk through Matthew 6:25–7:11 and take a closer look at four things we’re often tempted to pursue before Jesus. Prayerfully, as we study God’s Word together, our worry will be replaced with a desire to seek Him first!

The well-known Lord's Prayer, taught by Jesus to his disciples, can be divided, for study purposes, into two parts. The first addresses God's demands: his dwelling, his person, his kingdom, and his will. The second half addresses humanity's demands: their needs for bread, forgiveness, and deliverance. Let us, in this context, address the first part of the prayer.
