Standing For The Truth
We have a jealous God, and He wants His children to be holy like Him. The following few Chapters talk about preserving the Holiness of the Israelites. The rules followed in my generation don't apply to my children as the world they live in is different from mine. How much more, it's easy to overlook these principles, saying it does not apply to us.
God tests His children when false prophets arise. Understanding this principle pans the focus from the false prophet to my relationship with God. In today's world of many false teachings and doctrines, how can I obey this law? Today's passage talks about putting the prophet to death...Putting a person to death today would make me a murderer, and that is definitely not what God wants me to do...
A typical response is to defame the person. Social media helps propagate this. What would Christ want me to do? God has changed my attitude. I choose to respect men and women of God, I believe they are also humans like us and make mistakes. This mindset helps me to be compassionate and considerate towards them. I stand in the gap for them, asking God to open their eyes. An example I follow is how David feared to lift his hand against Saul, who was the Lord's anointed.
How do I wait on God to understand His truth? It usually starts with a question, and I keep pondering about it. There is a constant prayer in my heart saying Lord reveal your truth to me. Over time...Some have been immediately... Some took days, weeks, months and even years... There are others still waiting to be answered in the pipeline... Confirmation is usually from at least two or three sources. My personal quiet time must be one of them.
What is my responsibility as a believer who follows Christ and knows the truth? God takes us to people and forums where we are allowed to share the truth from the scriptures. We can confidently discuss the facts without naming preachers. We share from what the Bible has told them while teaching them to go back to God to get the final approval. We need to learn to go to God for answers and not God's appointed people whom God may use to confirm.
Thought for the day: How I can share the truth in love?
Disprove deceitful doctrine, don't damage people.
