40 Days With the Risen LordSample

40 Days With the Risen Lord

DAY 3 OF 40

# The Disciples Encounter the Risen Lord ## A Poem of Faith In Christ, every trace of lingering sin Is gone. And all that's left is joy, And endless ages to employ The mind and heart to understand And love the sovereign Lord who planned That it should take eternity To lavish all his grace on me. ## A Quote Prayer is the last thing Satan wants us to do, for prayer springs from and reinforces our trust in the Lord. – Tony Payne ## Our Response A prayer concerning peace Heavenly Father and Sovereign Lord, You said to the disciples, "Peace be with you." What does it mean for us? Is it the absence of war? Is peace the absence of sound? Is peace the healing of pain? Or is it the unity we have in you? Change me today so I can be an agent of your peace. Let me take the knowledge of you into every part of my day – at work, at leisure and to every person I encounter. May I look afresh and see your hands and feet – your scars not mine – and let not my heart be troubled, but trust in you O Lord. Amen. ## Journal Exercise Write a prayer thanking God that his Spirit has convinced you that Jesus has been raised from death. Let the deep peace that this assurance brings overflow in your prayer. Write a prayer asking God to convince three of your friends or acquaintances that Jesus has been raised from death. Pray that they would find peace with God. ## A Quote We should pray when we are in a praying mood, for it would be sinful to neglect so fair an opportunity. We should pray when we are not in a proper mood, for it would be dangerous to remain in so unhealthy a condition. – Charles H Spurgeon ## A Challenging Prayer Call upon God for such an outpouring of His Spirit that we, his people, will be assured of his love through his word.
