What happens when the priests who are supposed to clean others have become polluted themselves? Throughout Israel's history, the Levitical priests were meant to remove the stain of sin through sacrifice. But now these priests are offering diseased animals, marrying foreign wives, and trusting in false gods. 

God sends Malachi to announce that a final Levitical priest and a final sacrifice are coming that will cleanse not just Israel, but the whole world.
