God Is Never Late

DAY 3 OF 8

A Greater Miracle

Today I want to share with you the story of Jairus’ daughter, a story you may have or haven’t heard. Jairus at the time was the synagogue leader, and his daughter was dying. In desperation he set aside his position, ran to Jesus, and on his knees he pleaded: “My daughter is dying. Come and lay your hands on her, that she may live.”

The Lord could have said, "I can't right now, I'm busy with the crowd," but no, He went with Jairus. On the way to his house, the woman with the issue of blood appeared, and she was healed of her torment by touching the hem of his garment. Later, we see how she explains what she was living and tells him that she only touched his garment, yet He felt power coming out of him, because that is my Jesus. Pure power, mercy, and love.

When the Lord is finally able to continue on his way to Jairus's house, Jairus's servants come out to meet them and say, "Your daughter is dead; why bother the Master any longer?" Imagine for a moment what went through Jairus's mind. If the Lord had hurried, if he had been three minutes earlier, his daughter wouldn’t have died. But that's when the Lord gives him a word that is also for you reading this plan: "Do not be afraid, only believe." The Lord was telling him "Don't be afraid, Jairus because I have better news for you. Even though your daughter is dead, I will raise her up."

A healing is so much different compared to a miracle of resurrection, hence why it was so important for this to be recorded in three of the Gospels. Although this man had a reputation and was the leader of the synagogue, he didn't care and went to seek the Lord for he knew the answer was found in Jesus. He knew that Jesus was the Son of God so he fell at his feet and begged him to come with him. What a glorious miracle Jairus received that day.

God was looking for an opportunity to bless Jairus beyond his request. God is never late!
