If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god, would not God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart? Yet for your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. Awake, Lord! Why do you sleep? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever. Why do you hide your face and forget our misery and oppression? We are brought down to the dust; our bodies cling to the ground. Rise up and help us; rescue us because of your unfailing love.

If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god, would not God discover this? For he knows the secrets of the heart. Yet for your sake we are killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered. Awake! Why are you sleeping, O Lord? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever! Why do you hide your face? Why do you forget our affliction and oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly clings to the ground. Rise up; come to our help! Redeem us for the sake of your steadfast love!

If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread our hands in prayer to foreign gods, God would surely have known it, for he knows the secrets of every heart. But for your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep. Wake up, O Lord! Why do you sleep? Get up! Do not reject us forever. Why do you look the other way? Why do you ignore our suffering and oppression? We collapse in the dust, lying face down in the dirt. Rise up! Help us! Ransom us because of your unfailing love.

If we had forgotten the name of our God and spread out our hands to a foreign god,  wouldn’t God have found this out, since he knows the secrets of the heart?  Because of you we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.  Wake up, Lord! Why are you sleeping? Get up! Don’t reject us forever!  Why do you hide and forget our affliction and oppression?  For we have sunk down to the dust; our bodies cling to the ground.  Rise up! Help us! Redeem us because of your faithful love.

If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god; Shall not God search this out? For he knoweth the secrets of the heart. Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; We are counted as sheep for the slaughter. Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise, cast us not off for ever. Wherefore hidest thou thy face, And forgettest our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust: Our belly cleaveth unto the earth. Arise for our help, And redeem us for thy mercies' sake.

If we had forgotten the name of our God, Or stretched out our hands to a foreign god, Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart. Yet for Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arise! Do not cast us off forever. Why do You hide Your face, And forget our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust; Our body clings to the ground. Arise for our help, And redeem us for Your mercies’ sake.

If we had forgotten to pray to our God or made fools of ourselves with store-bought gods, Wouldn’t God have figured this out? We can’t hide things from him. No, you decided to make us martyrs, lambs assigned for sacrifice each day. Get up, GOD! Are you going to sleep all day? Wake up! Don’t you care what happens to us? Why do you bury your face in the pillow? Why pretend things are just fine with us? And here we are—flat on our faces in the dirt, held down with a boot on our necks. Get up and come to our rescue. If you love us so much, Help us!

¶If we had forgotten the name of our God Or extended our hands to a strange god, Would God not find this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart. But for Your sake we are killed all day long; We are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered. Wake Yourself up, why do You sleep, Lord? Awake, do not reject us forever. Why do You hide Your face And forget our affliction and oppression? For our souls have sunk down into the dust; Our bodies cling to the earth. Rise up, be our help, And redeem us because of Your mercy.

¶If we had forgotten the name of our God Or stretched out our hands to a strange god, Would not God discover this? For He knows the secrets of the heart. But for Your sake we are killed all the day long; We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. [Rom 8:35-39] Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Awaken, do not reject us forever. Why do You hide Your face And forget our affliction and our oppression? For our life has melted away into the dust; Our body clings to the ground. Rise up! Come be our help, And ransom us for the sake of Your steadfast love.

If we had rejected our God, and spread out our hands in prayer to another god, would not God discover it, for he knows one’s thoughts? Yet because of you we are killed all day long; we are treated like sheep at the slaughtering block. Rouse yourself! Why do you sleep, O Lord? Wake up! Do not reject us forever! Why do you look the other way, and ignore the way we are oppressed and mistreated? For we lie in the dirt, with our bellies pressed to the ground. Rise up and help us! Rescue us because of your loyal love!
