Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After he fasted forty days and forty nights he was famished.

He said to them, “Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of people.” They left their nets immediately and followed him.

From that time Jesus began to preach this message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
