We invite you to spend the weeks leading Easter tuning in to the heart of Jesus and considering His way, values, and principles in the world. When we sit at Jesus’ feet as students, hope for what is to come and what’s possible blossoms. May this Lenten season bloom hope afresh in your heart.

Lent: A Journey to Hope in Uncertain Times

Every one of us who inhabit the earth have our past stories, our present lives and our future dreams. All of this is held together by an awesome God who desires for us to know Him and work with him to bless the world. He is avidly working in every season of our lives to join the dots and make our lives beautiful and impactful to those around us.

The Lent Project is an initiative of Biola University's Center for Christianity, Culture and the Arts. Each daily devotion includes a portion of Scripture, a devotional, a prayer, a work of visual art or a video, a piece of music, and a poem plus brief commentaries on the artworks and artists. The Seven Last Words of Christ refers to the seven short phrases uttered by Jesus on the cross, as gathered from the four Christian gospels. This devotional project connects word, image, voice and song into daily meditations on these words.

The beatitudes invite us to live in a new way, with Jesus, in a world of anxiety, fear, uncertainty, and suffering. It is a road chosen by few, but Jesus did. And so, we follow Him, through suffering, to life.
