It Will be God

Whatever your point of desperation or current challenges, know that God has a win-win plan you have yet to imagine. He spoke a destiny of unimaginable goodness over you before time began. Because of that ancient word, you can move into a realm of the jaw-dropping realities of God’s goodness. But you must trust God as your only option, and that He knows exactly what He’s doing. Fully trusting Him is essential because hard times will make you believe that you’ll never experience another good thing in life. I felt that way in an intense season of grief following the deaths of my beloved grandmother and mama within months of each other. But God taught me not to get caught up in my emotions. I kept hearing, “Be sober. Be of a sound mind. Trust me.”

Peter is an example of someone in Scripture who had to learn to be sober-minded. He once cut off a man’s ear trying to protect Jesus, or so he thought. Jesus rebuked Peter, restoring the man’s ear (Luke 22:49–51; John 18:10–11). Later, as the church faced increased persecution, Peter, now more mature and a key early church leader, wrote a letter to encourage believers’ faith. He reminded them to trust God during affliction and warned of more difficult days ahead. “Be alert and of sober mind,” he wrote, admonishing them to “resist the devil” (1 Peter 5:8–9 NIV).

Resisting the devil means to lean on God, wait for His plan, and seek wisdom daily. It means having faith to believe it will be God orchestrating a win-win situation for you. Such faith will ground you in the confidence, hope, and courage needed for making the right decisions or for facing difficult circumstances. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good—and He wants to share His goodness with you. Know that whatever the season, your life can change for good and beyond recognition. Prepare for God’s goodness. Make God your only option. Ditch your plan B for making lemonade out of life’s lemons. Stand in faith, believing it will be God or it will be God directing your breakthrough.

Prophetic decree: You will be caught by surprise and will find yourself overwhelmed by God’s goodness toward you. Your prayer life will produce the life that’s been preordained.
