Gift of Heaven: A Christmas Devotional Seriesනියැදිය

DAY 5: God With Us in Our Weakness – The Power of His Word
The Christmas story is not just beautiful, it's disruptive. Into a weary world, politically chaotic, spiritually dry, and socially broken, God speaks, and His Word becomes flesh.
Mary and Joseph didn’t feel ready. Their engagement was interrupted. Their reputations were under fire. They didn’t have status or wealth. But none of that stopped God. His Word, spoken centuries before, was coming to life through their obedience.
Matthew, more than any other Gospel writer, is passionate about showing how Christ’s birth fulfils Scripture. It’s a drumbeat of hope: “So all this was done that it might be fulfilled…” Matt 1:23. God was moving with intentionality, fulfilling promises spoken long ago, through seemingly ordinary, weak people.
This is the heart of today’s reflection: God is ready to perform His Word even in your weakness.
The Apostle Paul, writing from a Roman prison, said, “I suffer… even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.” (2 Timothy 2:9) You might feel restricted by circumstance, health, fear, or failure, but God's Word is still moving, still creating, still fulfilling.
In Jeremiah 1:12, God says, “I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.” Even when you’re unsure or worn out, He is not passive. He’s actively watching over His Word in your life.
This Christmas, don’t underestimate what God can do in and through you, even in your limitations.
Reflection Questions
- What promises of God are you holding onto in this season?
- In what areas of life do you feel most limited or weak?
- How can you respond in faith—like Mary and Joseph—trusting God to fulfill His Word through your obedience?
