The Road Home: Reflections of a Prodigalනියැදිය

As we explore our themes of repentance, returning, and rejoicing, we will anchor ourselves in the parable of the Prodigal Son. We will read it several times throughout the course of this study, along with other passages that will highlight a specific theme.
Today, we begin with Jesus telling a story.
What are the big ideas that pop out to you as you read this parable?
We read in Luke 15:1 that Jesus is speaking to a crowd of “tax collectors and sinners,” not really the Jewish elite! What do you think might have stood out to them as they listened?
Throughout this story, what are some of the emotions that you see motivating the father in this story?
What about the younger son? What is fueling his actions?
Finally, the older son – what is driving his strong response?
Can you locate yourself in this narrative? What is the Lord saying to you?

Jesus tells the parable of the Prodigal Son to a crowd of tax collectors and sinners, the unsavory people of that time. The Pharisees stand by in judgment. As we read together, we will explore the themes of repentance, returning, and rejoicing. Hopefully, we will be challenged and encouraged as we reflect on our own seasons and events that draw us back towards the Father – only to find Him running towards us!
