Scriptures You Can Pray for Guidanceනියැදිය

Nothing Is Too Hard for You
Do you sometimes struggle to determine the next right thing to do? Our God works all things for our good and to His glory. We can trust Him because He is the Maker of all things, His character never changes, and He is carrying out His wonderful plan for all of humanity.
During the year-long Babylonian siege of Jerusalem, God instructed Jeremiah to buy land about an hour's walk from Jerusalem. God had already revealed to Jeremiah that Jerusalem would fall to the Babylonians, the temple would be destroyed, and the people of Judah would be led off to Babylon. This would happen because the people of Judah had rebelled against God in open sin and idol worship. God patiently called His people back to Him, yet they had refused to repent.
Even though it didn’t seem to make sense, Jeremiah bought the land. Then, he praised God, remembering the good deeds of the Lord. He confessed the ongoing sins of the people, finally coming to the Lord with his request for guidance. Jeremiah wanted to know why God directed him to purchase the soon-to-be-conquered land.
What a sweet answer God had for him. God was going to cleanse the land of idols and bring the people to repentance. Then, He would bring the repentant people of Judah back to the land He had given them. God’s direction to buy land was a promise that He would restore Judah one day.
God is concerned with growing our character and our obedience to Him. The Lord will always be glorified through all events. Not every hardship comes because we are living in willful disobedience to God. When life is tough, though, we want to stop and ask God to show us our sin so that we can turn away from rebellion and turn toward Jesus. We can ask Him, too, to grow our character as we cling to Him.
Pray: God, thank You for Your grace and mercy. I see Your mercy as You disciplined Your people, yet promised to restore them to their land. Make me wise and guide me as I walk through my day. Help me to hear when the words of my mouth do not honor You, the Maker of all things. Prick my conscience when I offend You, Lord, and give me the wisdom and humility to repent and turn toward Jesus.
