ඒ රාත්‍රියේ දෙවියන්වහන්සේ සාලමොන්ට පෙනී, “මා, ඔබට දිය යුතු දේ ඉල්ලන්නැ” යි පැවසූ සේක. එවිට සාලමොන් දෙවියන්වහන්සේට පිළිතුරු දෙමින්, “ඔබවහන්සේ මගේ පියාණන් වූ දාවිත්ට ඉමහත් දයා කරුණාව දැක් වූ සේක්, ඔහුගෙන් පසු, රජකමට මා පත් කළ සේක. අහෝ ස්වාමින්වහන්ස, දෙවියන්වහන්ස, දැන් මගේ පියා වූ දාවිත්ට ඔබ දුන් පොරොන්දුව ස්ථිර කරනු ලැබේවා! මන්ද පොළොවේ දූවිලි වැනි වූ අධිකතර ජනතාවක් කෙරෙහි ඔබවහන්සේ මා රජකමට පත් කළ සේක. මේ ජනතාවට මග පෙන්වන පිණිස දැන් මට ප්‍රඥාවත්, දැනගැන්මත් දුන මැනව. මන්ද ඔබවහන්සේගේ මේ අති මහත් ජනතාව ආණ්ඩු කළ හැක්කේ කවරකුට දැ?” යි පැවසී ය. දෙවියන්වහන්සේ, සාලමොන් අමතමින්, “ඔබේ හදේ තිබුණේ මෙය බැවින්, ඔබ වස්තුව, ධනය, ගෞරවය හෝ ඔබට වෛරකරන්නන්ගේ ජීවිතයවත්, අඩු වශයෙන් දීර්ඝායුවත් නො ඉල්ලා, මගේ ජනයාට රජකම් කිරීමට මා විසින් පත් කළ ඔබට, ඔවුන් ආණ්ඩු කරන පිණිස ප්‍රඥාවත්, දැනගැන්මත් ඉල්ලූ බැවින්, ප්‍රඥාවත්, දැනගැන්මත් ඔබට දෙනු ලැබේ. තවද, ඔබට කලින් සිටි කිසි රජකුට නො තිබුණ, ඔබෙන් පසුව කිසි රජකුට නො ලැබෙන අන්දමේ ධනය, වස්තුව හා ගෞරවයත් මම ඔබට දෙන්නෙමි” යි පැවසූ සේක.
