The word 'church' is often associated with places of worship, but its usage in the Bible is connected to the community of believers in Christ. In the New Testament, we find that the Church has two aspects. On the one hand, all believers on earth at this time together with all those who have “died in Christ” in past centuries constitute the “Universal Church”. On the other hand, believers who meet in a particular locality form the “local church.” We will examine Paul's Letter to the Ephesians to understand the biblical concept of the church, both universal and local.
