Your Body: God's Breathtaking TempleSample

Day 1 – Wonderfully and Fearfully Made
How do you feel when you look in the mirror? Do you smile with confidence, or do your eyes immediately search for flaws? Maybe there are features you wish were different — your height, your weight, your skin, your shape. For many people, the mirror has become a place of quiet criticism instead of gratitude.
It is human to have moments of insecurity. Culture constantly tells us we need improvement, adjustment, enhancement. But those voices are loud only because we listen to them often. What if you paused and listened instead to the voice of your Creator?
In the Book of Psalms, David declares, “I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.” Notice the confidence in that statement. He does not say, “I might be wonderfully made.” He says it as a settled truth. And that truth applies to you just as much as it applied to him.
Your body is not random. It is not accidental. It is intentional design. Every system operating inside you right now is functioning with breathtaking precision. Even as you read these words, your heart beats faithfully, your lungs draw breath, and your brain processes complex thoughts without you commanding it to do so. You are living inside a masterpiece of divine engineering.
Consider just a few astonishing facts.
- Every second, your body produces around 25 million new cells — roughly 300 billion in a single day.
- Your nose can remember up to 50,000 different scents.
- The network of blood vessels within you stretches between 60,000 and 100,000 miles — long enough to circle the earth multiple times.
- Your eyes can distinguish nearly one million color variations, and your bones, pound for pound, are stronger than steel.
This is not ordinary design. This is wonder.
And yes, perhaps there are parts of your body that do not function perfectly. Perhaps there are features you wish were shaped differently. But imperfection does not cancel intention. Even in weakness, there is purpose. Even in limitation, there is beauty. God’s craftsmanship is not defined by cultural trends.
When you criticize your body harshly, you are speaking against something God personally formed. Instead of rehearsing dissatisfaction, practice gratitude. Thank Him for what works. Thank Him for what carries you through each day. Thank Him for breath, for mobility, for life itself.
You are not a mistake. You are not an oversight. You are not a rough draft. You are God’s poetry — crafted with intention, sustained by grace, and worthy of honor.
Reflection: What would change in your self-image if you truly believed you are wonderfully made?
Prayer: Father, help me silence every voice that contradicts Your truth. Teach me to see my body as Your beautiful workmanship.
About this Plan

Your body is not an accident, a burden, or something God overlooks. It is His intentional creation and sacred dwelling place. In this 10-day devotional series, you will discover what the Bible says about your body: how it was fearfully and wonderfully made, how it can be offered as a living sacrifice, how it functions within the Body of Christ, and how God has prepared a glorified body for your eternal future.
