Faith That Works: Alive & Active Sample

The Mirror Test
We all have a morning routine that likely involves a mirror. We check our hair, our face, and our outfit. But imagine looking in the mirror, seeing that your shirt is on inside out and you have toothpaste on your chin, and then simply walking away and forgetting what you saw. That would be absurd, right?
James uses this analogy for those who hear God’s Word but don’t do what it says. It is easy to come to church, read a devotional, or listen to a podcast and feel inspired. But information without application leads to self-deception.
A faith that works requires us to be "doers" of the Word. When Scripture highlights an area of our life that needs to change—perhaps an attitude, a habit, or a relationship—faith is the courage to make that change. Don't just glance at the truth today; gaze into it, and let it adjust your life.
Reflection: Is there a specific instruction from God’s Word that you have been ignoring or delaying? What is holding you back from obeying?
Prayer: Lord, forgive me for the times I have been a hearer only. Help me to not just agree with Your truth, but to submit to it. Give me the strength to make the changes Your Word reveals to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

Is your faith a noun or a verb? True faith is more than just an intellectual belief; it is a dynamic force that transforms how we live, speak, and interact with the world. In this 7-day plan, we will explore the book of James and other scriptures to discover how to move from simply "having" faith to actively "living" it.
