White Knuckles: Letting Go and Trusting the God Who Holds Us

DAY 1 OF 5

There is a familiar honesty in the words “Here I am again.”

Tired again. Stretched thin again. Realizing I cannot do this on my own… again.

Most of us don’t set out to live independently from God. It happens slowly. We plan, work, push, and carry more than we were meant to. Eventually, we find ourselves exhausted and wondering why peace feels so far away.

Jesus doesn’t meet us with disappointment when we come back worn out. He meets us with rest, love, and peace. What if we stay connected to Him instead of relying on our own strength? He invites us to stop striving and start abiding.

Being at the end of your rope is not the end of the story.

It is often the place where trust begins again.

Reflection

Where are you relying on your own strength instead of God’s?

Prayer

Lord, here I am again.

I am tired of pretending I can handle everything on my own.

Teach me how to depend on You today.

Amen.

About this Plan

White Knuckles: Letting Go and Trusting the God Who Holds Us

I wrote “White Knuckles” in a season when I realized how tightly I was holding everything. I kept saying I trusted God, but my life told a different story. I was gripping outcomes, timing, and expectations, and I was exhausted. Trust isn’t something we master once — it’s something we choose every day. I hope this devotional helps you notice where your hands are tight and gently loosen your grip — not because life is easy, but because God is steady and faithful.
