Mosaic - Lent Journey for Grade 6 & 7 - Show Me the Way - 2026Sample

Lent 2026: Show me the Way
A journey through the Psalms with Jesus
Introduction to Lent
Have you ever gone through a time where life felt confusing, uncertain, or heavy?
Like you’re walking down dark streets with no GPS, and no idea which way to turn?
Israel knew that feeling when they left Egypt.
The prophets and disciples felt it when life got messy, disappointing, or overwhelming.
And Jesus Himself walked the hardest road - all the way to the cross - before Resurrection came.
Sometimes tough seasons make us think:
“I don’t even know who I am anymore or where I’m heading.”
It’s been called a liminal space- the in-between zone.
But for followers of Jesus, this can also become the space where we learn a new prayer:
“Lord, show me the way.”
Suffering can become a space where we meet God, hear His voice more clearly, and slowly start becoming more like Jesus. Even if we don’t have all the answers yet, we trust that He’s working and shaping something inside us.
During Lent, we walk with Jesus on His journey to the cross - not just through the stories in the Gospels, but also through the Psalms, the prayers Jesus Himself grew up praying. Lent helps us slow down: read, notice, listen, reflect, write, share, and pray.
Lent becomes a training ground where we learn:
- humility like Jesus,
- to think less about ourselves and more about others,
- to trust God with what we can’t control,
- to keep praying even when life feels complicated.
This way, we don’t just stand far off, staring at the cross from a distance; we learn to walk the road of the cross, as this road that leads to real life.
How to Use This Guide:
Psalm- Every week starts with a Psalm. Read it slowly. Let it settle in. Let it open your heart to what God wants to say.
Thought / Devotion - Each day has a short reflection and scripture. There are questions to help you notice what’s happening inside you. What do you feel? What stands out? What might Jesus be inviting you to?
Prayer - Each day includes a simple prayer. Pray it throughout the day - between classes, before bed, while you’re working out or doing schoolwork - to stay connected to Jesus by just turning to Him with this prayer.
Reflection – At the end of each week, look back.
- Where did you sense Jesus with you?
- Where was life tough?
- What did you learn?
Ash Wednesday: Look up to God
For the next 40 days, we are going to walk with Jesus. We are going to learn about how much God loves us — so much that He even sent us His son, Jesus.
During this time, we remember that God made us from dust (ground). He made us good because He loves us, but we are only human, people who sometimes get sick, hurt, and one day grow old. Fortunately, we know that we are never alone. Jesus helps us remember that we will not be alone on this Lent journey, but that He walks with us. The Holy Spirit is working in our hearts on the journey.
When you look at the sky today, maybe you see clouds, maybe blue sky, or even rain. God made it all special!
Psalm 121 says that God always watches over us, day and night. He does not get tired, and He does not forget about us.
Chat/ write about it:
- When do you feel small or afraid?
- What helps you remember that God is always near?
Do it:
Get a small bowl and put some sand/dust in it, and draw a cross with your finger in it. Now put it somewhere in your room where you can see it every day.
It reminds you: “God is with me.”
Repeat prayer: Thank you, Lord, for always watching over me. Amen.
