Encounters With Jesus: The Gospel of MarkSample

Welcome to day one of Encounters With Jesus!

As you read through the Gospel of Mark over the next six weeks, we hope you get to know more about who Jesus is and why he came to earth. Buckle up, because Mark’s Gospel moves really fast! Being the shortest and most condensed of all the Gospel accounts, Mark focuses on the actions of Jesus, from his baptism to his resurrection. Within these 16 chapters, Jesus is constantly on the move.

In the very first chapter, Mark 1:17, Jesus invites the first disciples to “Come, follow me.” And here we are, 2,000 years later, still being invited by Jesus to follow him. So, we invite you to follow Jesus through the pages of Mark: his teachings, his healings, his sacrifice. See where he goes, who he talks to, and how he lives. Some things might surprise you, and other things might confuse you...but stick with it.

By the end of these six weeks, we believe you will have a deeper understanding of Jesus and what it means to follow him. Here we go!
