Obedience: God's Love LanguageSample

TESTS
Genesis 22:1-2 NKJV
“Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” and he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.””
Just like academic tests aren't conducted for the benefit of the educator but for that of the learner, so life's tests are for the believer. Tests are not meant to make us fall into sin or temptation but to equip us better, as stated in James 1:13.
God allows tests in our lives to show the condition of our hearts. Tests strengthen us and reveal where we need some internal work done in our lives. The tests God permits are carefully vetted by Him, not to put us under but to walk beside us hand in hand as He guides us through to victory. He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us, to be our very present help in times of need.
Abraham was a man who waited all his life to have his son Isaac. Yet he was tested by God to sacrifice that which he loved the most. He obeyed God without questioning Him and chose to call Him faithful. Like Abraham, we also go through tough tests, but how we navigate them determines how and what we get out of them. We must be willing to obey His voice instead of griping, complaining, and throwing pity parties. God will never permit tests that would consume us; you can believe that.
Prayer: Dear God, I am thankful that I get to do life with You. Though life's tests aren't always pretty and I fail sometimes; You have never left my hand. Thank You for Your love and grace over my life.

About this Plan

Abraham was an ordinary man who had extraordinary faith in God. He was tested and tried but came out victorious. Abraham was called a friend of God because he understood God’s Love Language – one that only a few have been able to decode. This devotional explores the theme of understanding God’s love language as a necessity for enjoying intimacy with Him. This will make you courageous and build your faith.
