Forged in the Valley

Promises raise expectations. But it is devastating when those promises are not fulfilled. Life becomes bland. At such a time, many think, "It would have been better if I didn't have a promise." Indeed, disappointment is devastating.

David was in this kind of situation. He was minding his business when an old man called for him and poured holy oil on him, implying that he would be king. But from the time Samuel anointed him, he found himself in dangerous situations. And there was no sign of it slowing down.

In the passage today, he was fleeing for his life. Instead of ruling over a nation, he became the captain over his family members, debtors, and all kinds of low men. One can say that he took the undesirable condition in stride. With time, he made mighty warriors out of them.

You may be in the valley, waiting and wondering why God has delayed His promises. But if you cultivate the right attitudes, God will forge a king or queen out of you in that valley. Don't miss the opportunity. Your attitude determines if God will be able to forge a king in you as you travel through the valley.

Pray: Father, this valley is dark, but I surrender myself to be forged into the person that can fulfil Your vision for my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
