Sit Low. Live Lifted: Why the Low Seat Is Where You Were Meant to Be.

DAY 1 OF 3

Choose the Lowest Seat

Scripture Focus

Luke 14:10
“But when you are invited, take the lowest place…”

Devotional Thought

Jesus challenges what feels natural to us. We want to be seen, valued, respected, and honored. We want to feel like we belong in important places. But entitlement slowly creeps in when we begin to believe that honor is owed to us.

Jesus tells us to choose differently.

Choosing humility protects your heart from embarrassment, pride, and disappointment. But more importantly, it aligns you with God’s kingdom. God sees humility. God honors those who refuse to honor themselves.

Humility is not insecurity.

Humility is not weakness.

Humility is choosing dependence on God instead of elevating yourself.

Jesus didn’t chase titles.

Jesus didn’t fight for recognition.

Jesus chose the low place… and God exalted Him.

Prayer

Lord, help me release entitlement.

Teach me to choose humility willingly and joyfully.

Keep my heart soft and grounded in You.

Amen.

Personal Reflection

  • Where have I expected honor?
  • Where is God asking me to step down instead of step up?
