Trusting God's Provision: A 5-Day Journey of Faith, Obedience, and Gratitude Through Exodus 16

DAY 1 OF 5

Trusting God in the Wilderness

Scripture: Exodus 16:1-3

The Israelites had just experienced the miraculous parting of the Red Sea, yet they quickly began to complain about hunger. They doubted God’s provision and longed for Egypt, forgetting that God had already proven Himself faithful.

My Story:

I was working in the healthcare industry, making a good income, and was debt-free when God called me into a season of full dependence on Him. It felt like stepping into the unknown, just like the Israelites in the wilderness. He asked me to resign from my job and move to another state, alone, without family or close friends. Just like Abraham, I had to trust Him without knowing all the details. On top of that, He made it clear that I was not allowed to work. I have been serving Him full-time, relying on Him as my provider.

Even as an event planning entrepreneur, there were couples I had to say no to planning their weddings after consultations because He kept reminding me of the assignment at hand. At times, it didn’t make sense to turn down opportunities, but I knew that obedience to God had to come first. My calling, just like Jeremiah 1:10 says, is not about building my own plans but about tearing down, uprooting, and planting according to His will. That requires complete trust, even when it feels uncomfortable.

The Israelites in the wilderness had to trust God for daily provision. They could not store up manna for the next day because God wanted them to rely on Him daily. That’s exactly what this faith walk has been: trusting that God will provide each day.

Supporting Scriptures:
  • Genesis 12:1-4 – Abraham obeyed God’s call to leave his country, trusting God’s promise.
  • Matthew 6:31-33 – Jesus reminds us not to worry about what we will eat or wear because our Father provides for us.
  • Isaiah 41:10 – God reassures us not to fear because He is with us and will uphold us.
Reflection:

Are you trusting God in your wilderness season, or are you longing for the comfort of the past? Sometimes, we romanticize the very things God freed us from instead of looking forward to His promises.

Prayer:

Daddy, help me to trust You in the unknown. When I am tempted to look back, remind me that You are leading me toward something greater. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Declaration:

I declare that I trust God’s plan for my life. I refuse to fear the unknown because the Lord is my provider. I will not look back, but I will walk forward in faith, knowing that God’s promises are sure. I declare that as I walk in obedience to You, I will never lack. I trust You as my Sustainer, my Provider, and my Source. Just as You fed the Israelites in the wilderness, You will provide for me in every season of my life. I reject the fear of scarcity and embrace the abundance that comes from trusting You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
