WHO IS JESUS? A Discipleship Journey of Identity

DAY 1 OF 8

Who Is Jesus to You?

Jesus begins with a question. Not a sermon. Not a miracle. A question: “Who do you say that I am?”
The crowd had answers—many of them sincere. Prophet. Teacher. Good man. But Jesus pressed deeper. He wasn’t interested in popular opinion; He was revealing that identity is always shaped by revelation.

Today, that question still confronts us. Culture often presents a manageable Jesus—helpful but not authoritative, inspiring but not divine. This is not accidental. One of the enemy’s oldest tactics is not to erase Jesus, but to reduce Him. A smaller Jesus demands less surrender and produces less transformation.

John begins his Gospel by dismantling every diminished version of Christ: “In the beginning was the Word… and the Word was God.” Jesus did not enter the story later—He stands before creation, before brokenness, before your questions. He is light that darkness cannot overcome.

How you answer this question shapes everything else. A small Jesus leads to fragile faith. A revealed Jesus anchors identity in truth that does not shift with culture or circumstance.

Reflect & Respond

  • When you think of Jesus, what comes to mind first?
  • Have disappointment, familiarity, or culture shaped how you see Him?
  • What might change if Jesus is bigger than you’ve allowed Him to be?

Prayer
Jesus, I bring You my honest answer. Where my view of You has been shaped by fear or familiarity, reveal Yourself to me as You truly are. Amen.

Declaration
Jesus is not who culture says He is.
Jesus is who Scripture reveals Him to be.
I choose revelation over assumption.

About this Plan

WHO IS JESUS? A Discipleship Journey of Identity

The most important question you will ever answer is not Who am I? but Who is Jesus? In a world that keeps shrinking Him—reducing Him to a teacher, symbol, or opinion—this journey invites you to encounter Jesus as He truly is. As your understanding of Jesus expands, your identity will find its true and unshakable foundation.
