The Authority of Scripture

DAY 1 OF 7

The Origin of the Bible

The Bible is God’s intentional revelation of Himself to humanity. Scripture tells us that holy men spoke as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Basically, this means that the Bible did not emerge from human imagination, cultural philosophy, or personal opinion. It came because God breathed it out, and men received what He gave. When the Word says all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, it reveals the supernatural origin of every chapter, verse, and prophetic testimony.

More importantly, this divine partnership shows us something about God’s character. God chooses to work through people. He does not bypass the human vessel, even though we are imperfect. Instead, He empowers and inspires men so that what is recorded becomes His authoritative Word for all generations.

For example, the creation story, even the book of Genesis as a whole, happened before the writer was born. Moses could record the creation story because the Spirit carried him to see what no human eye ever witnessed. John could describe future events because the Spirit revealed things yet to come. Scripture is God’s knowledge revealed through the Spirit to the minds of men.

Another truth we need to know is that the canonisation of both the Old and New Testaments confirms this inspiration. The Old Testament was recognized through the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings, the very sections Jesus affirmed. Luke 24:44.

Meanwhile, the New Testament was rooted in the teaching authority of Jesus and the apostles. The early church accepted these books long before formal councils acknowledged them. What this means for you is simple: you can trust your Bible. It is complete, reliable, and divinely preserved.

The Bible is also unified. Across centuries, cultures, and authors, the entire story points to Jesus. Its thousands of internal references confirm that Scripture carries one consistent message inspired by one Spirit.

Beloved, today let confidence rise in your heart. Your Bible is not a random religious book. It is God’s eternal breath written for your transformation.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me Your inspired Word. Open my heart to receive it with faith and confidence. Let the Scriptures become alive in me and anchor my life in truth.
