“I’m Too Far Gone”

Lie: God can’t use someone like me.
Truth: Jesus came for the ones who feel lost, not the ones who have it all together.

Maybe you’ve thought it—or maybe you’ve said it out loud.

• “I’ve messed up too much.”
• "I knew better and still did it.”
• “If people knew the real me, they’d walk away.”

And you wonder if God has, too.

That kind of shame doesn't just sit in your head—it settles into your heart. It keeps you from opening your Bible, from showing up at church, from reaching out for help. You start to believe the lie that your past is too heavy, your choices too damaging, your story too messy to ever be used for good.

That’s not how God sees you.

In Luke 15, Jesus tells a story about a shepherd who leaves ninety-nine sheep to go find the one who’s wandered off. He doesn’t yell or shame the sheep when He finds it. He picks it up and carries it home, rejoicing. That’s the heart of God. He isn’t waiting for you to fix yourself before He welcomes you back. He’s looking for you right now, not to punish you—but to bring you home.

God has always worked through the broken. Rahab was a prostitute. David committed murder. Peter denied Jesus. Paul persecuted Christians. These weren’t people who got it right—they were people who got transformed. And He can do the same in you.

You’re not too far gone. You’re not beyond grace. You are seen, wanted, and pursued.

Where have you started to believe that your story is beyond redemption? What would it look like to bring that part of your life to Jesus today?

Prayer of Reflection:

God,

I admit that I’ve believed the lie that I’m too far gone. I’ve carried shame that You never asked me to carry. I’ve replayed mistakes instead of trusting Your mercy. Today, I want to see myself the way You see me. Not as a lost cause—but as someone You love enough to rescue. Thank You for not turning away from my mess. Thank You for Your patience, Your kindness, and Your grace. I don’t want to hide from You anymore. I want to come home.
