The Believers' Identity in Prayer

DAY 1 OF 3

Loved, Washed, and Made Priests

One of the most important truths we need to always keep in our hearts is that the Christian faith begins with love. Scripture tells us that Jesus loved us and washed us from our sins by His blood. You see, our redemption was not a response to our prayers. It was the action of God’s love.

If God never does anything else for you, what He has already done in Christ is enough to forever establish His love for you.

When Jesus washed us from our sins, He did not stop there. He made us kings and priests unto God. This is your new reality and identity. The moment you believed the gospel, a new thing was established. You were forgiven and made a king and priest.

In the Old Testament, no man could be both king and priest. Kings ruled. Priests stood before God on behalf of the people. These offices were separated. But in Christ, a higher order has been introduced, the order of Melchizedek. A priesthood where believers are both kings and priests. This priesthood did not come to us through personal effort, or qualification. It came through the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

To be a king means you rule by words. To be a priest means you have access and a stand before God. This is where prayer flows from, it flows from your priestly position even your standing before God. You do not pray to become a priest. You pray because you are one. You have an audience with the creator of the Universe.

Now, we need to understand that the new priesthood of the new covenant is not temporary. It does not expire. It is eternal because it is powered by eternal life. Eternal life is not what begins after death. It is what begins when you believe. That life sustains your priesthood forever guarantees your access and establishes your standing before God.

Saints, you are not trying to earn proximity. You are already near. You are not seeking acceptance. You have been accepted. This is the foundation of our access to God. It is first an identity before activity.

Let this truth settle in your heart today. You are loved. You are washed. You are a priest forever.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving me and washing me by the blood of Jesus. I acknowledge my identity as a king and a priest today. Establish my heart in the truth of who I am in Christ.

About this Plan

The Believers' Identity in Prayer

The Believers’ Identity in Prayer is a 3-day devotional that helps you understand who you are in Christ and how that shapes your prayer life. It teaches that you are loved, washed, and made a king and priest through Jesus. You will learn how the blood of Christ gives you boldness before God and secures your access to Him. This plan also shows what it means to be clothed with Christ in prayer, removing fear, guilt, and hesitation. It encourages confident, assured prayer rooted in identity, not effort.
