Intimacy With God

DAY 1 OF 7

Intimacy with God: A Journey of the Heart

Every heart was created to long for God. Yet, if we are honest, so many things compete for our attention and affection. For me, one of those things has been soccer. I love the game—the excitement, the passion, the community it builds. But I’ve noticed that at times, it softly captures my heart in ways that draw me away from stillness with God. I find myself thinking more about transfer windows, scores, and highlights than prayer and Scripture.

That’s when I realize how easily good things can become distractions from the best thing—intimacy with God. Yours may not be soccer; it might be work, social media, relationships, or even ministry itself. Whatever it is, God’s desire is not to shame us, but to gently call us back to Himself.

This Bible Reading Plan, “Intimacy with God: A Journey of the Heart,” is about rediscovering that closeness. It’s more than knowing about God—it’s knowing Him personally, deeply, and experientially. It’s a heart-to-heart relationship where we learn His voice, enjoy His presence, and align our will with His.

Over the next few days, we’ll journey through the lives of those who walked closely with God—David, Abraham, Moses, Mary, and Jesus. Each day highlights a different aspect of intimacy: longing for God, trusting Him fully, prioritizing His presence, coming to Him in honesty, and following Jesus’ example.

Intimacy with God isn’t about perfection or performance—it’s about relationship. It’s learning to love God above all else, even above the things that bring us joy. It’s allowing Him to fill the deepest desires of our hearts so that everything else finds its rightful place.

Take a moment to reflect:

What often comes between you and God? Ask Him to help you name it—and then surrender it to Him. He already knows, and He’s not distant. In fact, He’s waiting for you to draw near.

May this journey rekindle your hunger for His presence and remind you of His promise in James 4:8: “Come near to God and He will come near to you.”

About this Plan

Intimacy With God

God has always purposed to reproduce His life in us and through us. For this to happen, He reveals Himself and draws us into an intimate relationship with Him. This 7-day devotional plan explores how to grow deeper in intimacy with God by learning from the lives of David, Abraham, Moses, Mary, and Jesus. Through Scripture, reflection, and prayer, you’ll discover how longing, trust, honesty, and presence can renew your walk with God. Each day invites you to identify what stands between you and true closeness with Him—and to return to the One who alone satisfies the heart.
