Will you come with Me?

Jesus is about to enter Jerusalem. The tension is palpable — something significant is about to happen.

People with different interests are watching, and everyone seems to be asking: who will win, who will lose, and who will choose what side?

In this episode, Jesus asks his disciples, "Will you come with Me?"

Come with Me into this boiling pot of conflicting interests. Come with Me onto a field divided between winners and losers. Come with Me into an uncertain future.

Peter’s response is deeply moving. In John 6, he says: Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. For him, the decision is clear: he will follow Jesus, and the other disciples follow with him.

Can you relate to the disciples at that moment? Has Jesus ever called you to follow Him somewhere, and you hesitated? Maybe you felt uncertain, scared of the unknown. Maybe you questioned if you really wanted what Jesus was laying before you. Maybe you worried about the cost – what you would lose – if you went where he was leading. Following Jesus does not always look dramatic, but it can still feel costly.

In those moments, it’s tempting to look for another option or an escape. But Peter’s words offer clarity. Where else would you go? If Jesus truly has the words that lead to life, then staying with Him makes sense, even when the road ahead feels uncertain.

Jesus does not force anyone to follow. He invites. And each person gets to respond.

• Have you ever sensed Jesus asking you, “Will you come with Me?” Where was He leading you, and what happened?
• Are there areas of your life where you hesitate to let Jesus lead? Why?
• What do you think of Peter’s response? Could you say the same? Why or why not?

Prayer

Lord, You alone have the words that lead to life. I know this and I have experienced it. Help me remember that when following You feels uncertain or costly. Give me courage to stay close to You and trust where You lead. Amen.
