The Bible and How to Tell Your Story

DAY 1 OF 5

Get off the Bench

Nobody wants to sit on the bench. As an athlete, you want to be in the game, use your talent, make an impact, and help your team win the game.

As a follower of Christ, you are called off the bench to share your story for all to hear.

Every one of us has a story. God wants to use you and your story to make an impact, not just on the field, but for eternity. Your unique testimony, the story of how God has changed your life, can help win hearts to Christ. That is a victory far more powerful than any crown.

For some, sharing your story might be challenging or intimidating. It can seem easier to stay on the sidelines. For others, maybe you haven’t recognized the power that lies within your story. You stay on the sideline because you don't think your story is important enough to be told. Or maybe you’d love to share your story, but you’re just not sure where to start.

Sharing your testimony takes courage. When you share your story, you help others see God, the way He’s worked in your life, and the ways He may work in their lives too.

Your story, even if it seems boring to you, is a story about God and His redemptive work.

John 4 tells us about Jesus’ meeting with a woman at a well. Changed by her encounter with Jesus, the woman immediately runs back to her town and tells them all about him. She didn’t wait for any training materials!

John’s account tells us that many people in the town believed in Jesus because of this woman’s testimony. Her willingness to share her story changed the lives of everyone in her city.

Over the next few days, we will look at some tools to help you share your story and deliver your testimony with faith and confidence. But for now, remember this: God has called you off of the bench and onto the field.

Your story matters!

Will you step up with courage to help win hearts for the Kingdom? Check out the video to learn more about how you are qualified to share your story.
