DAY 1 — THE KING AND HIS KINGDOM

Key Verse:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”— Matthew 28:18

From the beginning of time, God has always operated as King—loving, reigning, providing, and inviting His creation into His purpose. His Kingdom is not a political idea or a religious brand. It is the expression of His nature—His way of ruling, restoring, healing, and making things whole. When Jesus declared that all authority had been given to Him, He wasn’t making a philosophical statement; He was announcing that every part of creation finds its meaning and purpose under His rule.

Humanity was created to reflect the nature of this King. We were formed in His image, set in place to carry His authority and share His responsibility (Genesis 1:26–28). We were never designed to be passive observers of creation; we were called to govern with God—aligning our choices with His heart and extending His goodness into the world. Kingdom life begins not with activity, but with alignment: recognizing who the King is and who we are under Him.

When we misunderstand authority, we often misunderstand the Kingdom. God’s authority is not domineering or oppressive—it is partnered authority. Every command He gives is matched with the grace to accomplish it. Every responsibility comes with empowerment. Every assignment comes with a personal invitation into His presence. When we choose to live under His rule, we don’t lose our freedom—we discover it.

Yet many of us have allowed lesser things to rule our hearts: fear, opinions, culture, insecurity, or even our past. Jesus invites us to come back to the place where Kingdom life begins: surrender. His Lordship is not a threat—it is an invitation to live as we were designed to live.

In what areas of my life am I still operating outside of Jesus' Lordship?

Do I trust God’s authority as good, loving, and empowering?

Where do I feel called to partner with God’s rule in my world right now?

What “other voices” have I prioritized above His??

Prayer:

King Jesus, I acknowledge Your authority over my life. Teach me to live under Your leadership with joy and trust. Help me to align my thoughts, desires, and priorities with Your Kingdom. Show me where I’ve surrendered to lesser voices and bring me back into Your truth. I choose today to live fully under Your rule. Amen.
