Peace Through WarSample

Battle of Jericho
This biblical account describes the Israelites, led by Joshua, conquering the city of Jericho by following God's instructions to march around it for six days. On the seventh day, they marched around the city seven times, blowing trumpets and shouting, which caused the walls to collapse. After the walls fell, the Israelites captured the city, killing most of its inhabitants but sparing Rahab and her family for previously aiding the Israelites and hiding the spies.
The Battle of Jericho teaches the lessons of faith, obedience, God's power, and His judgment, showing that victory comes through trusting His unconventional plans, even when they seem illogical. This strategy required patience and complete reliance on God rather than on human might. It highlights that God's promises are sure, sin brings consequences, and His mercy extends to those who trust him, just as Rahab did. In this, God demonstrates His providential sovereignty and ability to conquer impossible obstacles.
In fact, a miracle is tucked into this story, where God promised victory even before it had taken place. Joshua 6:2: “And the Lord said to Joshua: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.” The promise of victory was guaranteed even prior to the plan.
Even today, we can also be assured that God is with those who love and trust Him, even in the midst of a world that often turns away from Him.

About this Plan

While war is never optimal, the Bible shows it is sometimes necessary in this fallen world. Examining battles like Jericho, Jehoshaphat’s victory through praise, and David vs. Goliath, we see that success is achieved not through human might, but through faith, obedience, and reliance on God's divine intervention. We have confidence that the Lord fights for His people. Scripture confirms that wars will continue until Jesus return; however, Christians already possess the ultimate victory through Christ's defeat of sin and death on the cross, urging us to face our personal struggles with faith and courage as we seek everlasting peace.
