SARAH'S OIL Bible Reading PlanSample

Sarah Rector was a young girl living in early 1900s Oklahoma, a place and time where opportunities for African Americans were scarce and dangers were real. She was given a seemingly barren plot of land—land that most people would have considered worthless. But Sarah believed God had spoken to her: there was oil beneath that land.

To everyone else, it seemed impossible. Her parents couldn’t afford the taxes. Greedy investors and opportunists were ready to take advantage. Selling the land seemed like the only logical choice. But Sarah listened—really listened—to God’s whisper. Her willingness to hear and obey, even when it didn’t make sense to anyone else, became the turning point in her story.

Faith begins with hearing, but it doesn’t stop there. True faith moves us to action. Sarah’s story reminds us that God often calls us into situations that look impossible. But when we trust Him, our obedience can change the course of our lives, and even the lives of others.
