Shifts: When God Disrupts Your Plans to Fulfill His Purpose (7-Day Bible Plan)Sample

Trust God to Shift the Outcome
There have been moments in my life when I sat and asked God, “Why did it have to happen this way?” Times when I thought the outcome was settled and it didn’t look like victory. I prayed, I prepared, I gave it my all, but things still didn’t go the way I expected. I thought it was over—but God was shifting something I couldn’t yet see.
One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned is that God doesn’t need my understanding to complete His plan. He just needs my trust. There are times when He has to disappoint our preferences to deliver His promise. It’s not that God changed His mind; it’s that He’s changing me.
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” Notice it doesn’t say all things feel good. It says they work together for good. That means even the pain, even the delay, even the rejection—when placed in God’s hands—become part of a bigger process that leads to purpose.
When Jesus came out of the wilderness, He came out filled with power. The same Spirit that led Him in brought Him out stronger. The wilderness tested Him, but it also revealed what was already in Him. Sometimes God allows you to go through something not to break you, but to bring you into clarity.
There were moments I thought God was silent, but He was really strategizing. What I saw as loss was Him shifting the outcome behind the scenes. What I saw as a door closing was really Him protecting me from walking into something that would have delayed my destiny.
You may not understand the “why” right now, but trust that the same God who led you into the season is faithful to bring you through it. The outcome is not in your hands; it’s in His.
Reflection Question: What situation in your life might God be using to shift you toward something greater, even though it feels painful now?
Prayer: Father, thank You for being the God who works all things together for my good. When I cannot trace Your hand, help me to trust Your heart. Shift my focus from what I lost to what You are producing in me. I trust You to finish what You started. Amen.

About this Plan

Life doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes God tells you to move when you least expect it—or makes you move when you refuse to. It’s uncomfortable, uncertain, and often confusing, but every divine disruption has a purpose. In this seven-day devotional, Minister Jayden Watkins shares how to recognize God’s voice in transition, trust His timing when the path is unclear, and find peace in the shift. Through honest reflection, powerful Scripture, and prayer, you’ll see that God doesn’t move you to break you, but to build you. When He shifts your life, He’s preparing you for greater purpose.
