Does the Devil Know Your Name? A 10-Day Brave Coaches Journey

DAY 9 OF 10

Building a Reputation in the Spirit

“…Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.” Philippians 2:15

“Reputation is what men say about you on earth. Character is what God knows about you in heaven. Authority is what hell knows about you.” – Unknown

Paul was known in hell. When the demon in Acts 19 said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” it revealed something extraordinary: Paul had a reputation in the spiritual realm. He wasn’t famous because of his résumé or status, but because of his faithfulness. His reputation wasn’t built overnight—it was forged through years of obedience, sacrifice, prayer, and boldness.

This raises a challenging question for us: what reputation do we carry in the unseen realm? Do demons know us as men of prayer, purity, and power? Or do they laugh at our half-heartedness, compromise, and inconsistency? Reputation in the Spirit is not built by hype, charisma, or temporary bursts of passion—it is built by consistency.

Reputation in the world fades quickly. A man may be admired for his wealth, his career, or his charm, but those things mean nothing in eternity. What matters is the testimony of heaven and the recognition of hell. Heaven celebrates men who walk faithfully with God. Hell trembles before men who live with conviction, integrity, and spiritual fire.

Think of Barnabas in Acts 11:24: “He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.” That’s reputation in the Spirit. His character overflowed into action, his faithfulness inspired others, and his Spirit-filled life bore eternal fruit. He wasn’t chasing recognition, but both heaven and hell took notice.

Building such a reputation doesn’t happen in a single moment. It happens through small, daily choices: choosing prayer when it would be easier to scroll, choosing purity when temptation calls, choosing truth when compromise whispers, choosing service when selfishness beckons. These choices stack up, brick by brick, until your life becomes a fortress of consistency that both angels and demons recognize.

The devil does not fear one loud prayer shouted in a moment of desperation—he fears the man who prays daily, quietly, faithfully. He does not fear a man who quotes a verse once—he fears the man who meditates on Scripture until it shapes his mind and actions. He does not fear men who have hype—he fears men who have habits.

When a man consistently walks with God, both heaven and hell take notice. You may not be recognized by crowds, but you will be known in the unseen realm. And that’s what matters most. A man with a reputation in the Spirit doesn’t just shine among people like a star—he burns as a torch that pushes back the darkness.

The Brave Truth: Your reputation in heaven and hell is not built by hype but by habits. Consistency makes men dangerous to the enemy.

Action Step: Identify one consistent habit (prayer, Bible, serving) that will strengthen your reputation in Christ. Commit to it daily.

Reflection Question: What spiritual reputation am I building before heaven and hell?
