Does the Devil Know Your Name? A 10-Day Brave Coaches Journey

DAY 6 OF 10

Living with Conviction

“But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:18

“The man who kneels before God will not bow to idols.” – Unknown

The seven sons of Sceva had no conviction—just borrowed phrases. They wanted authority without substance, position without devotion. But true men of God, like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, stand firm even under fire. When faced with the furnace, they declared their loyalty to God with unshakable conviction. That’s the kind of faith that makes hell nervous.

Conviction is the backbone of authority. Without it, words are empty. With it, words carry weight. A man who knows what he believes—and refuses to compromise—stands immovable against the enemy’s threats. Conviction gives you a spine of steel when the world pressures you to bend. It anchors you when temptation whispers. It steadies you when trials rage.

When you live by conviction, you can’t be bribed, silenced, or swayed. Compromise is the enemy of authority. Every time you water down your values to fit in or avoid conflict, you weaken your witness. But when you hold to God’s truth—even when it costs you—you become a force the enemy cannot manipulate.

Consider Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego’s words: “Even if He does not…” They trusted God for deliverance, but their conviction wasn’t conditional. They didn’t obey God because of outcomes—they obeyed Him because of who He is. Men of conviction follow God regardless of convenience or consequence.

Conviction also protects you from double-mindedness. James 1:8 says the double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. Hell doesn’t fear men who waffle between faith and compromise. But when a man plants his feet on the unshakable truth of God, he is no longer tossed back and forth by the culture. He becomes steady, focused, and unshakable.

History shows us that revival and reformation often begin with one man of conviction. Think of Daniel in Babylon, standing firm in prayer despite the lions’ den. Or Martin Luther, refusing to recant his faith before emperors and church councils. One man with conviction can spark movements because conviction inspires courage in others.

Hell doesn’t fear passive men—it fears principled men who choose God even when it costs them. A passive man is easily distracted, divided, and defeated. But a man of conviction is dangerous to the kingdom of darkness because he cannot be bought and he cannot be broken. His loyalty belongs to Christ alone.

The Brave Truth: Hell doesn’t fear men who make excuses. It fears men of conviction—men who choose God over comfort, even when the fire gets hot.

Action Step: Write one personal non-negotiable conviction and commit to live it out this week.

Reflection Question: What convictions do I need to stand on more boldly?
