Does the Devil Know Your Name? A 10-Day Brave Coaches Journey

DAY 5 OF 10

Armor Up

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11

“The armor of God is not for decoration; it’s for battle.” – Unknown

A soldier wouldn’t step onto a battlefield without armor. Yet many men step into spiritual conflict every day unprotected—hoping grit or willpower will be enough. The seven sons of Sceva had words but no armor, and it showed. Paul, by contrast, lived suited up; prayerful, watchful, and covered—so even demons recognized his authority.

Paul’s command is not “try harder,” but “put on.” And not some armor—the full armor. The enemy’s schemes are many; God’s provision is complete. Each piece answers a specific tactic of hell: deception, accusation, fear, doubt, despair, and lies. Victory isn’t accidental; it’s armored.

The belt of truth fastens everything together. Without truth, everything else loosens. Truth means honesty before God, integrity with others, and alignment with Scripture over feelings. Lies unravel men; truth secures them.

The breastplate of righteousness guards your heart. This is not swagger or self-righteousness—it’s Christ’s righteousness received and reflected. You protect your life by walking in obedience and quick repentance. Unconfessed sin leaves the heart exposed; a clean life is guarded life.

The shoes of the gospel of peace give you traction. A man grounded in the peace of Christ stands firm when pressure hits and moves forward with the good news. Peace isn’t passivity; it’s stability under fire and readiness to advance.

The shield of faith quenches “flaming arrows”—accusations, anxieties, seductions, and subtle suggestions. Faith is not blind optimism; it is a chosen trust in God’s character and Word, raised every time a lie flies. And remember, Roman shields locked together—your faith strengthens mine. Don’t fight alone.

The helmet of salvation protects your mind. Assurance saves you from mental spin-cycles—condemnation, confusion, and despair. And the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, is your offensive weapon. Jesus defeated temptation by speaking Scripture; so will you. A Word you have not stored is a sword you cannot draw.

You can’t borrow armor from a pastor, a spouse, or a friend; you must put it on yourself—daily. Make it a rhythm: fasten truth, wear righteousness, lace peace, raise faith, secure salvation, draw the Word, and cover it all with prayer. Dressed like that, you won’t just survive the day—you’ll take ground.

The Brave Truth: Unarmored men become easy targets. Armored sons become advancing soldiers.

Action Step: Pray through Ephesians 6:10–18 today, piece by piece, as you “suit up.” Name each part out loud and apply it to a real situation you’re facing.

Reflection Question: Am I putting on God’s armor daily, or am I walking into battle exposed?
