Does the Devil Know Your Name? A 10-Day Brave Coaches JourneySample

The Weapon of Prayer
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests…” Ephesians 6:18
"Courage is fear that has said its prayers." — Karl Barth
Prayer is not a side activity—it is the battlefield. Too many men think of prayer as something we do before the real action starts, but the truth is that prayer is the action. The seven sons of Sceva tried to command demons without prayer, without intimacy, and without power. Their words were empty. Paul, on the other hand, lived in continual prayer, and even demons recognized his authority.
Paul’s strength wasn’t in his personality or education—it was in his prayer life. He knew that the secret place with God is the place of true power. Men may look powerful on the outside, but without prayer, their authority is paper-thin. The devil does not fear a man who talks loudly but a man who prays faithfully.
Prayer connects us to God’s power and disarms the enemy’s schemes. Every time you kneel before God, you rise stronger against hell. Leonard Ravenhill’s words ring true: prayer is not preparation—it is the battle. The devil fears a praying man more than a strong man because prayer unleashes heaven’s authority on earth.
When men neglect prayer, they become spiritually powerless. Life becomes reactionary, driven by stress and temptation. But when men embrace prayer, they become unshakable. They move with clarity, resist temptation with strength, and speak with boldness because they’ve been with God. Luke reminds us in Acts that when the early church prayed, the place shook—and so did the world around them.
Prayer is not about length or eloquence; it’s about connection. A heartfelt five minutes of prayer from a son who knows his Father carries more weight than an hour of empty words. The power is not in the performance—it’s in the relationship. Prayer is not convincing God to act; it’s aligning ourselves with His will so His power can flow through us.
Men often fall into the trap of thinking prayer is for the “spiritual” type, but Scripture never gives us that option. Paul commands us to pray on all occasions with all kinds of prayers. That means in the car, at work, at home, before meals, in the middle of the night—prayer is a lifestyle, not a religious duty. The man who prays continually lives in continual strength.
We cannot afford to treat prayer as optional. It is essential. Prayer sharpens our spiritual weapons, protects our minds, strengthens our hearts, and releases God’s power into impossible situations. A prayerless man is a powerless man, but a praying man is an unstoppable force in God’s hands.
The Brave Truth: The devil fears a praying man more than a strong man. Prayer is not optional—it is your weapon of war.
Reflection Question: Do I treat prayer as optional or essential?
Action Step: Set aside 15 minutes today for focused, bold prayer.
