How Christmas Movies Can Connect Us to God & the Bible—Film & FaithSample

You don't have to be a Grinch this year
Theodor Seuss Geisel has been one of the most influential authors for generations. Under the pen name, Dr. Seuss, he wrote and drew some of the most beloved characters in children’s literature such asThe Cat in The Hat, Horton Hears a Who and one of the most celebrated villains,The Grinch that Stole Christmas. The Ebenezer Scrooge of animation, this furry, green hermit is one of the most recognised figures during the Christmas season.
This Dr. Seuss tale is a perfect opportunity for parents to talk with their children about the real meaning of Christmas.
The birth of the Saviour of the world, Jesus.
Even though Jesus does not get a direct mention in the book or the filmThe Grinch, there are two Christmas carols sung in the film that make reference to the birth of the Saviour.
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Silent Night are sung as praises for the holiday and should open the door to a conversation in the ride home.
What is the real meaning of Christmas?
For those looking for the real story, go to the story of Jesus' birth in Luke 2.
