I'm New! What Do I Do?Sample

The Lifelong Journey
Keep Running the Race
What an adventure this week has been! But it’s just the beginning of a lifelong journey. You may have noticed repetition in the lessons over the past few weeks. Things like prayer, Bible reading, church attendance, and following the voice of God keep coming up. These are the fundamentals that make up the life of a Christian.
Just like in sports or music, to play well, you must master the fundamentals. Simple things like breathing, posture, hand placement, and focus are what make a skilled player. It’s the same with our Christian life.
God has a great journey ahead of you. To succeed, the fundamentals of:
- Having the right heart focus
- Knowing God’s will
- Renewing your mind
- Hearing from God
- Following His prompting
…are all vitally important.
Even though you are nearing the end of this devotional, this is just the start of your discipleship journey. In fact, it never ends until we go to be with Jesus. It is lifelong! We are all growing and learning, and God isn’t finished with us. Stick with the fundamentals, and you will grow!
Reflect on What You Learned This Week
- What I learned in church
- What I learned in my time reading the Bible
- While praying, I heard God say
Prayer
In your own words, ask God how you can apply what you are learning in church and how you are doing with the fundamentals of faith.
