The God Prompt

Living to Please God

Have you ever thought about God smiling? It is an amazing thought. God smiles when He thinks about you because He loves you. Our Father in Heaven never changes—He loves us regardless of our behavior. That being said, He does not approve of everything we do. There are actions that are pleasing to God and actions that are not.

When you know what pleases God, you can actively put a smile on His face.

The goal of our lives is to live in a way that is pleasing to God. As you learn about God’s character and the truths of the Bible, something wonderful begins to happen: the Holy Spirit prompts you in your heart to do God’s will.

When we live in a way that pleases God, it is called holy living. God is Holy. To be holy means to be set apart, totally pure, and devoted. We can live holy. The Holy Spirit will guide us in our hearts to do what is right according to God’s Word.

When your treasure is delighting in God’s will, you will naturally follow the prompting of your heart. Where you once ran to fulfill your own desires, you now rush to please God because your desires have changed. When your life is pleasing to God, He smiles—and you will too!

Prayer

“My delight, O Lord, is to do Your will. I want to put a smile on Your face! Prompt me, Holy Spirit, and I will follow You. Amen.”
